A New Era Dawns for the Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan Takes the Helm as President of Football!
Atlanta Falcons fans, get ready! Former NFL MVP and CBS Sports Analyst Matt Ryan is stepping back into the heart of the action as the team's President of Football, as announced by Falcons Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank. This is big news, and it's a move that could reshape the franchise.
Ryan's new role is effective immediately, where he will oversee all aspects of Falcons football. He'll report directly to Blank and work alongside Falcons President and CEO Greg Beadles to ensure a cohesive approach across the entire organization. The Falcons are currently in the midst of searching for a new head coach and general manager, both of whom will report directly to Ryan.
"Throughout his remarkable 14-year career in Atlanta, Matt's leadership, attention to detail, knowledge of the game and unrelenting drive to win made him the most successful player in our franchise's history," Blank stated, highlighting his confidence in Ryan's ability to transition into this new leadership position. He further added that Ryan's experience as an analyst at CBS gives him a unique understanding of the modern NFL.
Ryan himself expressed his excitement, stating, "Arthur gave me the chance of a lifetime almost twenty years ago, and he's done it again today." He emphasized his deep connection to the Falcons, his gratitude for the opportunity, and his commitment to the team's success.

He led the Falcons to the postseason five times, including two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance. He holds franchise records for career passing yards (59,735), attempts (8,003), completions (5,242), passing touchdowns (367), and passer rating (94.6), among many others. He also holds a litany of single-game and single-season records. During his time with the Falcons, he achieved a regular season record of 120-102 (.541) and missed only three games. Selected as the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Ryan quickly made his mark, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors from both the Associated Press and the Pro Football Writers of America. From 2011 to 2020, Ryan consistently threw for at least 4,000 passing yards each season.
