Step forward SaverOne, an innovative app with a unique approach. It detects phones within a moving vehicle and transforms them into a 'safe mode', blocking access to social media, messaging, and video apps. GPS and hands-free calling remain accessible, ensuring drivers can still navigate and communicate safely.
Alex Abrashkin, CEO of Motor Supply, Inc., explains, "As soon as the vehicle starts moving, the phone enters a protected state. It's a simple yet powerful reminder that someone is waiting for you at home, and they want you to return safely."
The results speak for themselves. Abrashkin shares, "Attempts to use the phone during work hours drop significantly, from 200 to just 10-20 in an eight-hour shift. It's a dramatic change as drivers develop better habits."
But the impact doesn't stop there. Abrashkin adds, "When used correctly, this tool creates a new culture that drivers bring home with them. They become ambassadors for safe driving, spreading the message to their personal vehicles and beyond."
Motor Supply distributes SaverOne primarily to commercial fleets in the U.S. While insurance companies offer similar apps, they rely on driver opt-in, which may not always be effective.
Experts agree that technology is a powerful tool, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. Drivers must also take responsibility for their actions and make a conscious effort to stay focused on the road.
